Auto-Editor App v5.4.0
August 1, 2026
New workflows
- Add an NLE mode, an alternative to Premiere Pro/Resolve/Final Cut Pro that supports native Auto-Editor actions.
- The new
.bapfiletype (bundled auto-editor project), bundles source media, timeline settings, and complete undo and redo history. Platform agnostic. - Import v3 timelines directly into NLE mode while preserving track positions, gaps, source offsets, and custom effects.
Timeline editing
- Double-click an NLE lane gap to select it, then press Delete or Backspace to ripple-delete matching empty time from that lane and aligned lanes.
- Add an NLE Razor tool that splits linked video and audio clips at the clicked frame, and dedicate the linear-mode ruler tool to drawing time-range selections.
- Trim overlay clips directly by dragging either edge on the timeline.
- Adjust clip/cut indicator boundaries directly by dragging either edge, with undo and redo support.
- Select timeline clips independently by track with one click, use Shift-click to select multiple clips, and press Delete to toggle selected main-ribbon clips between active and cut.
- Select linked video and audio components together by default, with Alt/Option-click for component-only selection.
- Drag the main ribbon to select a time range for keep/cut actions, or drag a lane or empty track space to marquee-select every intersecting element.
- Show subtitle cues clipped and split at the boundaries that will be exported.
Transitions
- Add editable video and audio dissolves at timeline edit points and sequence ends.
- Add transitions at every edit point between selected clips.
- Add dissolves and audio crossfades directly at timeline edit points by clicking or dragging the cut handle.
Interface and accessibility
- Add British English, Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese UI localization based on the system language.
- Dismiss every dialog with Escape, and keep keyboard focus inside the open dialog instead of the page behind it.
Preview and performance
- Restore saved projects faster by deferring analysis for inactive projects and loading only the cached data needed by each analysis task.
- Continue generating the complete proxy in the background while playback is paused, without replacing the full-resolution paused frame.
- Keep one resident native preview worker alive to follow the playhead, supersede stale renders, and stream proxy progress without restarting the CLI controller.
- Make comma/period frame stepping follow the rendered preview timeline across cuts and speed changes.
- Prioritize paused preview frames by immediately preempting background proxy rendering.
